FRIENDLY FIRES – PARIS (Electro/Alt Rock – UK)
Friendly Fires are an English band, who formed in 2006 in St Albans, Hertfordshire. They consist of Ed MacFarlane (vocals), Edd Gibson (guitar) and Jack Savidge (drums).
The band was signed to XL Recordings (also home to Basement Jaxx) in 2008 after becoming the first unsigned band to appear on Channel 4’s Transmission programme in late 2007. Their self-titled debut album was released on 1 September 2008 to much critical acclaim.
Their single “Paris” achieved “Single of The Week” in The Guardian newspaper, NME magazine, and also on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show. The song was subsequently remixed and reworked by Aeroplane (with vocals by Au Revoir Simone), who gave it a downtempo disco vibe. The Aeroplane version was featured on U R MY DISCO // vol.3
