Three years after their cult album Wave If You’re Really There, Liverpool-based indie electro outfit Wave Machines are finally back with their haunting new single “Counting Birds” and they’ve decided to make it available for free on their SoundCloud, for a limited time only.

“Counting Birds” reveals the band’s darker side, it is more nuanced and introspective than their usual lush disco-hook sound. Simultaneously intimate and epic, this new song points towards what will be a massive return-to-the-fray of one of the most promising acts of the last few years.

MNDR – #1 IN HEAVEN (Electro/SynthPop – US)

It is (almost) official now, Brooklyn’s own MNDR will be releasing their debut album sometime this year and the first single is already out on Ultra Music. With this new track, singer songwriter Amanda Warner and producer Peter Wade set their sights on the dancefloor and the result is a super catchy synthpop gem.

“#1 In Heaven” flawlessly combines Wade’s richly textured sound and Warner’s irresistible hooks with the sole purpose of making you dance. Having worked with Mark Ronson on his chart-topping single “Bang Bang Bang” and toured alongside Chromeo, MNDR are slowly but surely setting themselves up for stardom. Stay tuned…

SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM – WE LOVE (Electro – Australia)

Aussie dance duo Sneaky Sound System are back with a new single! The title pretty much sums up how we feel about this new song: “We Love”. It’s a catchy piece of dancey electro pop that creeps up on you, gets inside your brains and makes you want to shake your hips and bob your head. In other words, it’s exactly what you’d expect from Sneaky Sound System.

The track is the first taste from their highly anticipated third long-player, From Here To Anywhere, scheduled for release in August via Modular. The album is currently experiencing the magic touch of Serban Ghenea, four time Grammy Award winner and go-to-guy for The Neptunes, La Roux, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z. After releasing two EPs in a row in 2009 (Life of Leisure & High Times), Washed Out took a bit of time off to work on new material for his debut album. Well, judging by the quality of his last single, the break really paid off! “Eyes Be Closed”, the single posted a few weeks ago as a free download, retains Washed Out’s signature chillwave sound, with gently pulsing Balearic beats, synths galore and somber, filtered vocals.

Washed Out - Eyes Be Closed

Ernest Greene, the young multi-instrumentalist behind the project, has been making synth-based downtempo electronica out of his home studio in Perry, Georgia for barely two years but he’s already earned major accolades in the biz.

His songs have been featured on many major music blogs and even on some TV shows. There’s always a sense of longing and distance in his blurred sounds and this is probably make them so evocative and appealing to a wide audience. No wonder labels were lining up to sign him after he released his first EPs.

Now part of the Sub Pop’s impressive roster (the Seattle label is also home to acts such as Beach House, Foals and The Shins), Washed Out will release their highly anticipated debut album debut album Within and Without on July 12. To help you wait, here’s a cool track for you to play on repeat…

Nearly four years after their last album, Places Like This, Architecture in Helsinki are finally back with a brand new record. The Melbourne-based electro indie outfit, which made their debut in 2003 with the  pop-infused Fingers Crossed, recently announced that they would release their long-awaited fourth studio album in April in Europe and May in the US.

Architecture in Helsinki’s new full length, entitled Moment Bends, was recorded over the past two years in the band’s own studio and according to band leader Cameron Bird it reflects AIH’s obsession with pop music and their desire to get lost in an album that encapsulates all their feelings and emotions.Check out the first single “Contact High” below…

Architecture in Helsinki - Contact High

Originally comprised of three childhood friends Cameron Bird, Jamie Mildren and Sam Perry, AiH became a hobbyist combo in the year 2000, and has morphed through as many as six different line-ups during its tenure, always centered around the songwriting and singing of Cameron Bird. The band currently consists of Cameron Bird, Kellie Sutherland, Sam Perry, Jamie Mildren and Gus Franklin.

They have released three albums to date, Fingers Crossed in 2003, In Case We Die in 2005 and Places Like This in 2007, each of which has seen the band navigating completely different musical terrain. Let’s reminisce with two excellent tracks “That Beep” and “It’5”!
