CANNONS – FIRE FOR YOU (Electro/Lounge – US)

Cannons formed in 2013, when childhood friends Ryan Clapham and Paul Davis met singer Michelle Joy. Clapham (lead guitar) and Davis (drums and keys) grew up on the same street in Los Angeles, and had been trying to start a band for years, but nothing had quite clicked until their paths crossed hers. Michelle’s effortless vocals melded perfectly with Ryan’s old school chord progressions and Paul’s densely layered productions, creating a sound that some fans swiftly labelled as nudisco, future boogie, or chill-wave.

With a slew of EP’s  and their debut album Night Drive behind them, Cannons took some time to perfect their lush and dreamy mix of 80’s synths, 70’s soul and contemporary electropop and the result was 2019’s Shadows. This 7-track mini album is full of pulsing baselines, reverb soaked guitars, and Michelle’s hypnotic vocal. Listen to “Fire For You” below and try to stop tapping your feet to this irresistible beat!
