Norwegian synthpop princess Annie recently released a new 4-track EP called Endless Vacation and the second tune taken off this release is “Dadaday”. Following the single “Cara Mia”, this sweet-but-sad track feels like a long lost dance treasure complete with vocoder-heavy vocals, a springy bass line and 90’s inspired beat.
Like some of Annie’s previous hits (think “Chewing Gum”, “Anthonio”, “Songs Remind Me”), “Dadaday” is written and produced by Richard X, here joined by Jim Eliot and Stefon Storm.
Annie explained that her new songs are “like a perfect holiday which is actually a disaster. You’re spending time in a wonderful place but with someone who you don’t have anything to talk about with. But if you looked at the holiday photos everything would still look good on the surface. ‘Dadaday’ is a sad song from this holiday… like you are left alone in the hotel disco”
A day with not just one, but two bouncy electro tracks featuring Norwegian pop princess Annie is bound to be a great day! Now, if this day is saturday and you are looking for some high energy pre-party music, then these might just do the trick…
“Crazy For You” is taken off Designer Drugs’ 2011 debut album Hardcore/Softcore and it features Annie’s sugary vocals, over some pretty heavy synths. If you’re so enclined, you can stream Designer Drugs’ album in full on SoundCloud.
The second track is The Toxic Avenger’s single “Alien Summer”, a fast paced club-friendly number with a huge chorus. Talking about huge choruses, just in case you missed it, do check out this incredible The Swiss remix of Annie’s 2009 hit “Songs Remind Me of You”…

Australian trio The Swiss have been distilling disco flavoured beats and old-school sounds since 2007, slowly establishing themselves as a legit live disco act amongst the unsurmontable crowd of pretenders. Signed to Modular Recordings in 2010, The Swiss joined the ranks of artists such as Cut/Copy and The Presets.
Mixing crisp and snappy drums with lazer-sludge bass, the trio’s new single “Double Or Nothing” was released at the end of September via Modular. Featuring remixes by Louis La Roche and Renaissance Man, as well as another original, “Womanthem”, and its remixed version by Headman, this six-track EP is a catchy and upbeat electro disco affair. To show how cool they are, The Swiss are generously giving away Louis La Roche’s brilliant remix.

As a bonus, here is a remix The Swiss did for Norwegian electropop royalty Annie. Their refreshingly different, and shamelessly glittery, take on her 2009 single “Songs Remind Me Of You” is a little disco bomb for your Hi-Fi.

To celebrate the release of their new single, The Swiss just started a two-month tour around the planet, stopping in at Copenhagen, Vienna, Stockholm and several other locations in between. No need to introduce Norwegian electropop princess Annie… Her dancefloor-friendly pop gems have been all over this blog for the past couple of years so chances are you have already heard a few. Well, the Scandinavian songstress (now based in Berlin) has got a few surprises in store for us.
Last June saw the release of a very special EP: The Greatest Hit – 2010 Remixes! This EP was released by Loaded Records to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Annie’s first ever single “The Greatest Hit” and it features a handful of new exclusive remixes.
Our way of celebrating this anniversary here at umstrum||music is to bring out of the vaults two of Annie’s most noteworthy remixes. Enjoy!
Annie - Heartbeat (Phones Maximo Mix)
Annie - Anthonio (Designer Drugs Remix)
As a bonus, here is a another remix of “The Greatest Hit”. This track isn’t on Annie’s new EP but sure deserves some attention. This version was produced by London-based DJ/producer Clancy, who has also remixed songs by the likes of Little Boots, Housse De Racket and Delphic. Check it out!

It’s been a while since we last heard about Norwegian electropop princess Annie but the wait is over and we’re in for a treat today. It turns out Annie is back with a new release, available for download now on
Although technically “Songs Remind Me Of You” is not a new track, it has been remixed by Australian disco band The Swiss and Sydney-based veteran DJ Donnie Sloan and the result is just mind-blowing! For those of you who don’t know Annie yet, she is a chart-friendly electropop singer songwriter who got her breakthrough in 2005 with her unforgettable single “Heartbeat”. Her first album, Anniemal, was, as Annie likes to call it, ‘pop with strange edges’ and it was praised by critics and bloggers alike.
On her second album, Don’t Stop, this ‘pop with strange edges’ is also pop with twists and eccentricities so surprising that the tunes persistently demand a double take. With collaborators including Richard X (Róisín Murphy, M.I.A) Paul Epworth (Tracey Thorn, Friendly Fires) or Xenomania (Kylie Minogue, Sugababes), Annie has put together a solid collection of schizophrenic pop numbers that blend all the genres she is so fond of. Check out how Skatebård reworked Annie’s awesome cover of 80s cult disco pop track “Two Of Hearts”…

Pretty cool, huh? Well, The new remix of “Songs Remind Me Of you” keeps the same disco mood but has this really upbeat happy vibe to it that makes it a perfect summery tune. Get it on
