FRAMES – SLOW (Electro/House – Australia)

Based in the vibrant Sydney suburb of Surry Hills, Frames is the newest signing to clubby Aussie label Sweat It Out Music. A couple of months ago, the young beat-maker dropped an almost unrecognizable remix of Kylie Minogue‘s major international hit “Slow”, featuring a super sexy bass line and totally re-pitched vocals. The result is a smooth as hell poolside jam, evoking sunny days, spilled sunscreen and pina coladas in plastic cups.

On remix duties is local Sydney producer Moonbase Commander who contributes an even slower and sexier rework of the rework, wrapped in layers of electro goodness. Both the original and the remix have already received massive support from Tensnake, Anna Lunoe, LancelotBag Raiders, RÜFÜS or Yolanda Be Cool.

This cool EP alone isn’t enough to get you going? What about a couple of smooth and smouldering remixes Frames whipped up for your listening pleasure? Check out his edits for Dune and Architecture in Helsinki

Architecture in Helsinki

Following the release of their superb new album Moment Bends back in April, Architecture in Helsinki launched a remix competition over the summer to promote their single “Escapee”. The band put the parts to the song up on Soundcloud for remixers to grab and they waited patiently for the remixes to start pouring in. In the meantime, AIH went on a pretty mammoth tour of Europe and the United States and returned to Australia at the end of August with their most extensive national tour in years.

The “Escapee” remix contest closed on September 9th and the band finally got to hear the results. With an overwhelming amount of excellent entries the caliber was so high that they couldn’t choose just one winner and decided to choose 3 runners-up as well.

After much debate, Architecture in Helsinki selected as the winner Sydney producer Frames (aka Andrew Boon). The three runners-up are 21-year-old Dutch musician Andrew Verschuren (aka Nostalgia), Melbourne-based duo Indian Summer and Malory, a musician from Bordeaux, France, who also makes music under the name Worldwide Government.

Melbourne’s finest, Cut Copy, have been busy this year, hopping from continent to continent in their marathon quest to spread their critically-acclaimed album Zonoscope across the globe.

They’ve just announced a string of new dates across the US and Europe, including the inaugural Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris, as well as the long running one in Chicago. The icing on the cake is that they will be supported by Washed Out and Midnight Magic during the US leg of their summer tour.

In preparation for the festivities, the Cutters are releasing a special remix courtesy of Toro y Moi (aka Chaz Bundick). Bundick gives his masterful touch to their new single “Blink And You’ll Miss A Revolution”, turning it into a slinky bright disco hymn.
