Based out of Brisbane, Australia, Max Byrne is a young and talented artist/producer who makes chilled electronic music under the moniker Golden Vessel. Influenced by Flume, James Blake or Chet Faker, his smooth blend of down-tempo beats features elements of hip-hop, trap and soul, all laced in a pristine lo-fi sheen.
2016 was a big year for Golden Vessel with the roll-out of his incredible debut Before Sleep EP which saw him working with some very talented Australia artists such as Lastlings, Tom Eggert of MTNS, OKBADLANDS, Abraham Tilbury, and Woodes.
After taking his live show on the road late last year for his first headlining mini-tour, Max is already back in the studio working on his next round of releases and collaborations. His first single for 2017 is “Tell The Girl” featuring vocals by Emerson Leif and released in collaboration with Exist Recordings.

Australian electronic duo Nocturnal Tapes has only been working together for about 2 years but their musical palette is quite broad, with influences ranging from hip-hop, blues and funk, to psychedelic, electronic and dance. New single “Pieces” sees them significantly progress by introducing Tech-house influences, drawing inspiration from Caribou, The Presets and LCD Soundsystem.
With solid 4/4 beats, escalating arpeggio and vocals awash with reverb, the track shines a different light on the band’s creative depth but their pop sensibilities and smart approach to songwriting still remain intact.
Bonus track: “Superficial Light”
With more new material up their sleeve, this is an act to keep an eye on in the coming months. Find out more on their Facebook or SoundCloud. Buy the music on
Australian singer songwriter Lisa Mitchell released her third album, Warriors, in October 2016. Sonically different from her previous works, this new LP was produced by Eric Dubowsky (who has worked with Flume and Chet Faker). “We really got rid of a lot of guitar and piano in this album,” she explains, “I was interested in someone doing a different thing than what I’d done in the past.”
Directed by award-winning Australian director and writer, Vanessa Gazy, the video for “Warhol” is Part One of a story that spans over both this song and “Warriors”. Watch both videos below!

Melbourne based producer, singer and songwriter Elle Graham, better known as Woodes, has only been around for about two years but her beautifully crafted songs have caused many a head to turn. After the success of super catchy single “The Thaw”, the young artist released a 6-track self-titled EP featuring older tracks and dazzling new tune “Poison”, which was co-produced by Brisbane artist Golden Vessel and Melbourne’s own Elkkle
A few days ago Woodes shared “Bonfire” via her SoundCloud. This new unreleased track was written, co-produced, performed and arranged by Woodes and Rob Kleiner, with additional percussion by Elkkle. It combines Graham’s poetic lyrics with a clever mix of tribal drums and subtle synths.
