Miami Horror is spearheaded by Benjamin Plant (also known as Benjamin Vanguarde), a 22 year old producer /composer from Melbourne, who makes electropop with a disco-house throwback style.
He started getting international recognition DJ-ing in various high profile international events in LA, NY, Mexico and Europe as well as remixing artists like Pnau, Midnight Juggernauts, The Presets and Datarock. From being a solo project, Miami Horror ended up turning into a full-fledged live band with Josh Moriaty on vocals and guitar, Dan Whitechurch on bass, keys and sampler and Aaron Shanahan on drums.
They are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut, which should be out shortly. The album will be both a collection of songs written and produced over the past few years by Benjamin, some as far back as age 18, along with new work which the band has created together, developing a much more mature and original sound.

In a time when the word “disco” is overused and misused to describe a whole lot of up and coming bands, it has become harder to find the “real thing” in this ocean of pretenders. Australian trio The Swiss, however, are a legit live disco band whose existence is based entirely on flavour and good sounds rather than attitude and nice gears. For the band, 2010 is a year of new beginnings. They have parted ways with Really Real Records and are now part of the Modular family. They join the ranks of artists such as Cut/Copy, The Presets or Ladyhawke, for whom they produced a brilliant remix that you can listen to here…
Ladyhawke - Magic (The Swiss Remix)
The Swiss are cool. With their crisp and snappy drums that cause pregnancies, quicksand lazer-sludge bass, dizzy pops and flourishes, melody rays and synthesised strings that glide on the thermal currents of life, this is what real disco did/does/should sound like. It’s smooth and catchy, chilled, but upbeat and most of all, danceworthy.
The Swiss - Bubble Bath (umstrum Radio Edit)
After working in the studio with Australian producer / songwriter Donnie Sloan (from Empire Of The Sun), the new EP Bubble Bath will be released on January 29th but you can pre-order the vinyl from Modular. The single comes with remixes from Tensnake and Knightlife ensuring a sweaty night on the dancefloor time after time.

Jonathan Boulet is the newest player in the Modular clubhouse, a precociously inspired 21 year old musician from Sydney’s Northwest. “A Community Service Announcement” is the righteously smashing single from Jonathan Boulet’s new album and it comes with a great video directed by New Zealand duo Special Problems.

Van She are a Sydney four-piece who bridge the musical gap between boldly adventurous shoegaze and danceable glint disco. Van She began in 2005, when the members met at a Bang Gang nights in Sydney.
The release of their much hyped self-titled EP on Modular Records brought them wide recognition, especially with the success of the single “Sex City”, which was then covered by Crystal Castles on their debut LP. In 2008, Van She released their thrilling debut V, which debuted at number 10 on the Australian charts. This album is a collection of spacey dance tracks with its foot firmly planted in the pop world.
The band are known to step off the stage and into their DJ guise of Van She Tech to remix tracks by the likes of Dragonette, Ladyhawke and Lost Valentinos. Their 2008 debut album, V, received the royal Tech treatment and was remixed and re-released by the band, fittingly titled Ze Vemixes.
