Melbourne-based experimental pop purveyors Hoodlem unveiled their self-titled EP a few months earning accolades from music blogs at home and abroad. Their unique blend of glitchy beats, wonky bass lines and provocative vocals is at its best on the following tracks off the EP: “Kintsungi”, “4 Real” and personal favourite “Old Friend”.
As a bonus, listen below to a brand new track which sees Hoodlem teaming up with Nashville natives BASECAMP to create an infectious mashup of Amerie’s ‘1 Thing’ and Shaggy’s ‘It Wasn’t Me’.

Tobtok is a young musician, producer and DJ based in Uppsala, Sweden. At only 21 years old, he has already perfected the art of mixing nu disco, house and pop in his productions and after several high-profile remixes (Lemaitre, Citizens!), Tobtok is finally ready to share his first EP. Released via uber-cool French label Kitsuné on November 17th, the Savanna EP is a gem packed EP containing three original tracks ant two gorgeous remixes.
Tropical-infused new track “Free” is a collaboration with elusive Australian duo Hoodlem and it should please all fans of laid-back beats and sun-drenched melodies. “Savanna” also gets a new vocal version featuring a stunning contribution from new startlet River and two remixes courtesy of Fillip Ilic and Keljet, who respectively add some house vibes and new disco, fitting perfectly with Tobtok’s sound.

If you were looking for some fresh tunes to finish off the weekend, here comes Hoodlem, a new and exciting act from inner-city Melbourne. Hoodlem is an anonymous project who first showed up on our radar in July 2013 with their understated yet soulful debut “Through”.
The song received a fair amount of love from music blogs at home and abroad, but that’s nothing compared to their newest single “Old Friend”, which has already racked up almost 200,000 plays on SoundCloud. Blending delicate vocals, pulsing minimalist beats, and plucky guitars, all tightly held together with unassuming elegance, “Old Friend” is just the kind of slow-burning killer track that will play on repeat in your head for hours after you first heard it.
If you like what you hear, you should definitely check out Hoodlem’s recently posted cover of NSYNC’s early noughties hit “Girlfriend”. This grown-up version of the boy band’s classic tune is available for streaming and free download now!
