British indie electro crew Hot Chip are back with, In Our Heads, an 11-track album which may well be their strongest effort to date. Released on Domino Records last June 12, the band’s fifth studio album also marks their return to the indie sector after three records with major-label-turned-sinking-ship EMI. It prominently features Hot Chip’s weird-ass mix of disco, pop, pulsating beats and latent melancholia.
Explaining the album’s overall mood, more joyous than its predecessor, co-frontman Joe Goddard says: “I want to listen to records like Never Too Much by Luther Vandross. I don’t want to listen to a band caught up in their hang-ups and problems. That’s just not interesting to me.” Couldn’t agree more!

Joe Goddard, best known as co-frontman of UK electronica outfit Hot Chip, is quite a busy man. Some may even say he is borderline hyperactive. As if his nonstop touring across the globe with Hot Chip and as a solo DJ wasn’t enough, the man also finds time to lock himself up in the studio and remixe tracks for his mates, make some tunes as one half of Two Bears and produce DELS debut album. And in his spare time he decides to co-found Greco-Roman Records – a collective of musicians, DJs and artists on the Berlin/London axis who throw experimental speakeasies, DJ together as a soundsystem and casually release records too.
You’d think Goddard might take a well-deserved break? Well, not even close! The multitalented singer/beatmaker is now back to introduce his new EP. The irresistible title track, “Gabriel” is a modern classic built around live drum samples and signature Goddard synths. Icing on the cake, it features angelic guest vocals by Valentina, who adds the necessary passion and emotional weight to proceedings.
The EP is rounded out with the Theo Parrish-influenced “Jump”, before ending with the 10-minute Lullaby “All I Know” which features vocals by Goddard himself. Listen to it in streaming on Greco-Roman’s Soundcloud.

In an era of homogeneous hip hop, the music of UK artist Kieren Dickins – better known as DELS – comes as a breath of proverbial fresh air.
DELS’ signature sound belies a truly eclectic range of musical influences, from his days in a two-step garage band as a teenager, to a long-standing creative partnership with Hot Chip‘s Joe Goddard. The resulting product is a unique mishmash of pulsating basslines, tinkering keys, syncopated drum patterns and the occasional steel pan, all perfectly enhanced by DELS’ infectiously languid flow.
DELS - Lazy
Last August, DELS released a massive single, “Shapeshift”, which was saluted by critics across-the-board. Produced Joe Goddard, who also makes cameo appearances in the videos and features in the songs, “Shapeshift” is a great tune which throws all the rules about the correct structuring of a classic hip hop song out of the window.

DELS’ witty lyrics, sing-along choruses and unique style ensure that he will have a large crossover appeal and chart attraction. His music is fast gaining recognition amongst music heads the world over and expectations are high for his debut album, which will be released on Big Dada/Ninja Tune in February 2011.
Here isBritish electropop band Hot Chip’s new single off their forthcoming album. “One Life Stand” is an electronic pop track with hints of disco that starts off a little somber, but will get you dancing around your room before long… It’s fresh, fun and real Hot Chip sound…
