CHROMATICS – IN FILMS (ItaloDisco/Sytnh – US)

Chromatics

Just a few weeks after their hazy and cinematic single “Just Like You”, synth disco four-piece Chromatics are sharing a brand new tune taken from their forthcoming album Dear Tommy. The song is called “In Films” and, as always, it is available as a free download from frontman Johnny Jewel’s SoundCloud.

“In Films” is surprisingly cheery and bright considering the band’s back catalogue of moody slow jams and melancholic disco tunes. On this new track, Ruth Radelet’s vocals show unprecedented confidence laid over bouncy drums and upbeat guitars, not to mention the super catchy chanted hook. There is still no official release date for the new album but we know that it will include 17 tracks, among which are reworked versions of “Cherry” and “Camera”, two songs taken from the 2013 compilation album After Dark 2.

CHROMATICS – JUST LIKE YOU (Disco/Nuwave – US)

Chromatics

Three years after their hugely successful album Kill For Love, Chromatics share the first single from their forthcoming album Dear Tommy, which will be released on Italians Do It Better this March. The song is called “Just Like You” and it is available as a free download from frontman Johnny Jewel’s SoundCloud.

This haunting slow jam features Ruth Radelet’s whispery vocals over smooth synths and hypnotic beats. Just the kind of elegant melancholic electropop one would expect from the band. As for the new album, it will include 17 tracks, among which are reworked versions of “Cherry” and “Camera,” two songs taken from the 2013 compilation album After Dark 2.

CHROMATICS – LOOKING FOR LOVE (NuDisco/Synth – US)

Chromatics

Just a few months after Kill For Love, Johnny Jewel, Ruth Radelet and Adam Miller (aka Chromatics) are already back with a new tune! “Looking For Love” is edited down from an epic 17-minute piece commissioned for Chanel’s latest runway show.

This haunting song features Radelet’s whispery vocals over a polished hypnotic beat. The structure is linear, with a few subtle shifts here and there, and the result is classy and elegant. “Looking For Love” will appear on After Dark 2 (follow up to the Jewel’s recently remastered seminal compilation After Dark), out soon on Italians Do It Better.

VIDEO : CHROMATICS – LADY (Disco/Electro – US)

On the heels of their Neil Young cover “Into The Black”, revealed a few weeks ago, Portland four-piece Chromatics have unveiled the video for their new track “Lady”, a smooth 80s inspired nu disco number. Directed by Alberto Rossini, the video features grainy footage and washed out images filmed live at Silver City Prom 2010, providing a glimpse into the band’s life on the road.

Adam Miller, Ruth Radelet and Johnny Jewel (the man behind Glass Candy and Desire) have promised their fans a new LP for 2012. “Lady” is the third single taken off this highly anticipated album, which is currently being mastered. To be continued…
