5EYA – FLOAT EP (Electro/Club – Italy)

Florence-born London-based dance producer Daniele Pianigiani, better known as Seya (or 5eya), took his first steps on the English club scene as the DJ partner to fellow Italian expat (and former flatmate) Phonat. Now fully emancipated, Seya is set on making a name for himself with his own brand of bumping disco-infused house.

The young artist’s latest EP, Float, was released last November on La Bombe, including two brand new original tracks already supported by Radio 1 bigwigs like Kissy Sell Out and Malente and Turbo Recordings’ Matt Walsh. “Float” is a smooth electro number that slowly builds up into a funky as hell party starter. “Backlight” is more straightforward, with its funky bassline and catchy sample-based melody.

Bonus track: “Radiogame” taken off the As It’s Loud EP.

Over the past year or so Milan-born Paris-based producer/remixer Monsieur Adi (aka Adamo Balbus) has really managed to build a name for himself with his classy electro-house productions. The young artist has released a handful of very successful EPs and a few hyped-up remixes of Ellie Goulding, Visitor, Fallulah and Madonna, to name a few, and he is rumored to be working on his debut album at the moment.

Adi’s latest release, the Fire Fire Fire EP, came out last September via Technofavrik to much praise. Check out the original and a remix by Stay Ali just below.

This track is probably the best example of Monsieur Adi’s powerful clash of baroque and electro, expertly mixing soaring strings and dancefloor-friendly beats…

CASA DEL MIRTO – THE NATURE (Synth/Chillwave – Italy)

Casa del Mirto

Casa del Mirto is an Italian chillwave outfit spearheaded by Marco Ricci, who is joined on stage by Luigi Segnana on bass and Mirko Marconi on guitar. Active since 2006, CdM started out as more of a dance music project, heavily influenced by 90s house and other dancefloor-friendly genres, as you can hear on their first two albums, Supertrendycoolfashion and Numero Uno. Fast forward to 2011, the name remains but pretty much everything else has changed.

Casa del Mirto - The Sun

Casa del Mirto is now synonym with intimate atmospheres and lush chillwave arrangements. On their last album, The Nature, released last September via Mashhh! Records, you will find a great mix of saturated synths, deep beats and echoed vocals, somehow reminiscent of Toro Y Moi or Washed Out.

Abyss (aka Giuseppe Morabito) is best known internationally for the club hit “Mind Games”, a song that has been so successful that the echo has not yet gone out. This debut single was released back in 2006 on Buzzin’ Fly and together with its B-side “The Dreamer” it captured the attention of house DJs across the spectrum. John Digweed opened his annual ‘Transitions’ mix CD with BOTH tracks, while serious plaudits rained in from big-room spinners like Pete Tong, Sharam and Nic Fanciulli through to back-room heads like Jimpster, Tom Middleton and Jerome Sydenham.

After a couple of equally successful singles with Lilth Recordings and Parquet Recordings, Abyss is back is bringing it back home to Buzzin’ Fly with his new single “Birdsong”, which promises to be a summer killer. On this deep-house gem, pushy, agitated drums and sub-bass make way for a dark latino keyboard loop and sprinkles of melancholy piano. The breakdown then collapses into empty reverse gear before surging out into a loopy finale.

With early support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Rob Da Bank, Pete Tong or Andre Lodemann, the single is a fitting follow up to “Mind Games” and perfect summer night-time music. It comes with two official remixes by Snoretex (aka Sam Willis of Walls and Allez-Allez) and Flowers and Sea Creatures. Snoretex opens his remix with a metal bird cacophony before settling into a tracky, trippy ride that is part blissed-out euphoria, part shadowy Lil Louie.

Abyss – Birdsong (Original Mix)

Meanwhile, Montreal’s Flowers and Sea Creatures strip out the drums and offer up a rich and textured ambient masterpiece, adding new voices and swirling Juno 106 lines for the perfect set opener. You can stream the original and the remixes on SoundCloud.
