UK electro rock band Metronomy are gearing up for the release of their third album, The English Riviera, next April on Because Music. The first single, “She Wants”, is available today as a free download from the band’s official website, where you can also watch the video directed by Jul & Mat.

Metronomy - She Wants

The English Riviera is the follow up to 2008’s critically acclaimed Nights Out, a second album that felt like a new beginning for Metronomy. It was the first to be vocal-led, with the self-effacing Joseph stepping up and grabbing the mic for most of the tracks. Metronomy now operate as a four piece with Anna Prior on drums, Gbenga Adelekan on bass, original member Oscar Cash on keys/sax, and Joseph Mount on vocals, keys and guitar.

Listen to two remixes below: the first is by Ed Banger Records’ artist-du-jour Breakbot and the other is by French electro duo Jupiter.

JUPITER – VOX POPULI (ElectroPop/Disco – France)

Put on your dancing shoes because Jupiter is back with a gorgeous new single, “Vox Populi”. The parisian electropop duo have now clearly perfected the formula for infectious disco pop (laser lights included) and they’re back to prove it! With their magic synths, electrified beats and unmistakable 80s touch, Jupiter give us pure electro bliss.

Jupiter - Vox Populi (Lifelike Treatment)

At umstrum||music we are suckers for anything Jupiter (see HERE, HERE and HERE) and this new release just proves our point: these guys rule! Their original tracks are great (“Starlighter”, “Submarine 75”, “Chip”), but the remixes they’ve done for bands such as Two Door Cinema Club, Metronomy or KiT also show great consistency in excellence..

Show Jupiter some love on MySpace and please please please buy “Vox Populi”! The download bundle only costs 1,99€ / 1,99$ on Vox populi - Jupiter

Charlotte Gainsbourg made her musical debut in 1986, with the album Charlotte Forever, produced by her father Serge Gainsbourg. However, it took her twenty years to release her second album, 5:55 (Because Music, 2006). Charlotte collaborated on the album with French duo Air, English musician Jarvis Cocker, and Irish singer-songwriter Neil Hannon, as well as Radiohead‘s main producer Nigel Godrich This album awarded her critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching the top spot on the French charts and achieving platinum status in the country.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - 5:55 (Metronomy Remix)

In late 2009, Gainsbourg released her third studio album, IRM, which was co-written and produced by Beck. The album is a patchwork of different musical genres but what stays consistent through the whole record is Gainsbourg’s soft, intimate voice and Beck’s overwhelming indie rock influence.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - Heaven Can Wait (Feat. Beck)

The album, which is conceived as a journey into human psyche, is sometimes bright and alluring, sometimes dark and disorienting, but always interesting. It reflects Charlotte’s growth as an artist and is also a compelling demonstration of musical cooperation between two artists.

For your listening pleasure, check out two fantastic remixes of the song “The Operation”, taken off Charlotte’s 2006 release, 5:55. The first remix is by French producer 25 Hours a Day and the second by Cousin Cole.
