Unknown Mortal Orchestra is an American and New Zealand rock band composed of singer, guitarist and songwriter Ruban Nielson, bassist Jake Portrait and drummer Riley Geare. The band was started by New Zealand-born Ruban Nielson and released their self-titled debut, inspired by insomnia and wild parties, in June 2011 on Fat Possum Records. It was followed by II (2013, Jagjaguwar) which won Best Alternative Album at the New Zealand Music Awards.
Released just a few weeks ago, Multi-Love is the band’s third and most revolutionary full-length to date. In Nielson’s own words, it is an album “about love and music and the world we live in right now. I wrote these songs about you, not about me. It’s not really a navel gazing record, it’s about celebration and the weird truth”.

Paris-based combo Bloum was born in 2013 and teamed with fellow Parisian 5-piece Backbone to set up their own label Animal Records a year later. After an unpretentious yet quite impressive introductory EP released in May 2014, Bloum unleashed the highly addictive “Faith” just in time for summer.
Self-released via Animal Records and self-produced, the Faith EP includes the title track, a subtle mix of finely-tuned electro, solid hip hop beats and strong vocals, as well as a collection of four glorious remixes by Worakls, Vendredi, Nhar and Eggo. Check out a couple of them just below!

Phantogram is a duo formed in 2007 at Saratoga Springs, NY, by Joshua Carter (vocals, guitars) and Sarah Barthel (vocals, keyboards). They refer to their music as a kind of “street beat, psych pop”, based on psychedelic melodies but combined iwht technology and organic textures. The band practices and writes music in an out-of-town farm called Harmony Lodge, where they write and record songs using various samplers, synths, drums, and both percussive and stringed instruments.
Originally named Charlie Everywhere the band changed name to Phantogram towards the beginning of 2009. In March of the same year, they self-released the five-song Phantogram EP and sparked widespread interest with two songs in particular, “Mouthful of Diamonds” and “When I’m Small”.

It received overwhelmingly favorable reviews and was named one of the best albums of 2010 by practically every music publication.

Sunbirds are much more than just another indie rock band! With members hailing from London, Los Angeles and France, they have developed a rare sense of sonic eclecticism that directly results from the combination of their culturally diverse backgrounds .
United through their love of music, the four piece found a new home in London, where they are now based. Together they make very catchy, melodic pop/rock with a nice twist of psychedelia, sometimes reminiscent of US indie sensation Yeasayer or Australian underground mainstay Lost Valentinos
Sunbirds - Sunshine
Sunbirds relish the classics of rock music and psychedelia so it’s only natural that their sound should be influenced by the music of their forefathers. Through experimentation and endless hours of work in the studio, they have managed to create a sound that is both deeply rooted in the past and looking straight to the future, making it utterly timeless.
Sunbirds’ brilliant debut EP, River Run, will be out digitally on July 19 2010. It will be available worldwide through Smoky Carrot but if you can’t wait, you can listen to it in streaming HERE.
In the meantime, you can get a free download of the single “Sunshine” on Sunbirds’ official website and show the boys some love on MySpace.
