Irish electro/house icon Róisín Murphy returns to the dance floor with the track “Simulation”, a slow pumping jam, with a vintage disco glimmer, released in late 2012 via Munich-based imprint Permanent Vacation. Produced by Richard Barratt, the song develops an enormously captivating effect over 12 minutes with a constantly swelling beat and vocal performance.

The official release includes a remix by fellow Irish man and rising star of house music Mano Le Tough, as well as a shorter dub version provided by Eric Kupper.

CROOKERS – TONS OF FRIENDS (Electro/Dance/Club – Italy)

Italian DJ duo Crookers are fast becoming one of the most blogged about electro acts on the blogosphere and we have to give credit where it is due, they’re pretty good! Bot and Phra have worked together since 2003, brought together by a common desire to explore dance music. Phra says: “It felt natural to team up, seeing that we had the same musical tastes… which isn’t that easy here in Milan”

After releasing three EPs in the past couple of years, they are now presenting their first album, Tons Of Friends, out since March 8. The record features Soulwax, Yelle, Miike Snow, Róisín Murphy and then some.

Drawing from influences of house, hip hop and beyond, Crookers blend their beats with the kind of fidget house finesse that gives birth to tracks that twist, startle and surprise with synthetic pop.

The boys are also known for their remixes of artists such as Basement Jaxx, Fever Ray or Lady Gaga. For the record, their remix of Kid Cudi’s “Day’N’Nite” entered the UK singles chart straight at number 2!

Róisín Murphy (her first name is pronounced ro-sheen) is an Irish electronica singer, songwriter, and producer, known to many as one half of dance duo Moloko. Three years after releasing her solo debut Ruby Blue to mixed reviews, Murphy finally has some new material out!

Her sophomore album, Overpowered, recently hit the stores and it is a clear return to a more electro-oriented sound for the former dancefloor queen. This is good news for Moloko fans who will no doubt welcome the change…
