BEACH HOUSE – MYTH (Indie/DreamPop – US)

Beach House

After weeks of rumours and wild conjectures, Baltimore duo Beach House are finally sharing a first taste of their fourth studio album, Bloom, due for release on May 11th via Mistletone Records/Inertia. Expectations are pretty high for this new LP, especially after the success of the duo’s 2010 album, Teen Dream, which spawned a few memorable singles and remixes.

Beach House’s new single “Myth” was recorded in late 2011 at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, TX and mixed at Electric Lady in NYC. The song’s spiraling guitars and gentle drums provide a velvet lining for Victoria’s warm vocals.

The album that will follow in May was largely designed on the road, during two years of tour. Throughout this period, melodies, chords, rhythms, words, and textures surfaced in moments of their own choosing. These spontaneous ideas were later gathered and developed in Baltimore, with Chris Coady as co-producer.

SBTRKT – ATOMIC PEACE (Electronica/Dubstep – UK)

Masked London post-dubstep producer SBTRKT (Aaron Jerome in real life) had a massive 2011, but his career actually started long before this sudden wave of success. He began his DJ career at Plastic People in London and started sharing his music back in 2009, slowly building a loyal fan-base that has followed him all the way to the release of his impeccable self-titled album last year.

The track SBTRKT shared a couple of weeks ago turns out to be one of his early unreleased compositions. “Atomic Peace” was first included in STRKT’s sets back in 2009 but the song was never released due to sample clearance issues (it uses a sample from Múm’s “Flow Not So Fast Old Mountain Radio”). After a long delay, it is finally available for fans to enjoy! Stream it above and don’t forget to check out the remix by Hannes Fischer just below…

BEACH HOUSE – REMIXES (Alternative/Indie – US)

Beach House

Hailing from Baltimore, Beach House is Victoria Legrand (vocals, organ) and Alex Scally (guitar, keyboards), who are joined by Daniel J Franz and Graham when performing on stage.

Since its formation in 2005, the duo has released three albums: Beach House (2006), Devotion (2008) and Teen Dream (2010). Blending Victoria Legrand’s delicate vocals with an expansive dream pop sound, Teen Dream has been hailed as one of the best albums of 2010. Very carefully and thoughtfully put together, Beach House’s songs are dream pop at its best. Their slow-paced melodies and eerie vocals combine to create vivid magical soundscapes.

No wonder this music has  been a source of inspiration for many DJs and producers who have released  incredible remixes that enhance the best qualities of Beach House’s original songs… umstrum||music has selected some of the most noteworthy remixes and you can find them just below:

WE HAVE BAND – REMIXES (Electro/Indie – UK)

We Have BandIt’s been about a month now since We Have Band released their critically acclaimed debut album WHB but I still got it stuck on repeat on my iPod, so I thought: what the heck, let’s post about them again and share the love.

If you haven’t heard of We Have Band yet, they are a do-it-yourself trio, with Darren Bancroft on vocals, drums and sampler, Dede W-P on vocals, percussion and sampler and Thomas W-P on vocals, guitar, bass and programming, Their debut album, simply titled WHB, was released on April 5th and it shows the band’s sound has grown into a more serious kind of alternative electro rock.

Now that the buzz has somehow eased off, it’s high time we dived into this ocean of (mostly very good) remixes to extract the very best!
