French duo gone five-piece Isaac Delusion have a new line-up, a new label, a new album but one thing hasn’t changed, they are still passionate artists dedicated to continually exploring new musical landscapes. Out on April 7th via Parisian boutique label Microqlima, the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album was three long years in the making but the result is simply breathtaking.
Rust & Gold features twelve slices of hybrid pop that stand out for their rare simplicity and honesty. In a genre-bending tour de force Isaac Delusion deliver stories of love and longing, life and spirituality, cut for daydreaming and road tripping across the continents.
Ben Howard is a young folk troubadour who will make you feel as though he is the first young folk troubadour you have ever heard. He gives new lustre to the genre, making it all seem brand new even as his songs have about them a quality and authenticity as old as the hills.
Often compared to Jeff Buckley, Ray Lamontagne, Damien Rice or Matt Corby, Ben Howard readily admits he is “still fairy addicted” to all the classic 60s and 70s singer-songwriters, from Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan to Van Morrison and Richie Havens. These influences transpire throughout his debut album, Every Kingdom, which was recorded in a converted barn in Devon and released at the end of 2011.
UK-born drummer, singer and songwriter Florrie has unleashed the video for her new single “Shot You Down”. The young 23-year-old artist is in the eye of the media storm again with this shiny electro anthem, which is the lead song from her Late EP.
Florrie is currently busy in the studio recording new tracks for her long awaited debut album, which should come out in the near future. In the meantime can buy Florrie’s Late EP as a digital download or get it on CD or 12″ vinyl from the Florrie Shop.
Bonus track: check out Florrie’s breakthrough single “911”, released back in 2010.
Four years after their last LP, Sigur Rós finally released their new album Valtari (which literally translates to “steamroller”) last May 29th via XL Recordings. To spice things up a little, lead singer Jónsi Birgisson and his mates launched the Valtari mystery film experiment. To put it simply, the band asked a dozen film makers to create short films representing whatever came to their mind when they listened to songs from album, and all this with a strictly limited budget.
The video for the entrancingly beautiful song “Varúð” taps into the talent of Icelandic film maker Inga Birgisdóttir. Watch it above…
Despite appearances, Rebeka is not a solo artist but a duo, comprised of charismatic vocalist Iwona Skwarek and multi-instrumentalist Bartosz Szczesny. Hailing from Poznan, Poland, the pair started working together in early 2011, experimenting with textures, synths and vocals and making explosive pop with dark edges.
Rebeka - Stars
Rebeka’s debut single “Stars” is released on April 20th via Portuguese electro/disco powerhouse Discotexas featuring four awesome remixes (including not just one, but two remixes by Punks Jump Up and a club mix by Mirror People), and it comes with a beautiful video directed by Balbina Bruszewska and Katarzyna Baraniewicz.
