TOMAS BARFOD – HAPPY (Electro – Denmark)
Tomas Barfod is a Danish artist and producer, whose background includes about ten years as part of WhoMadeWho and four albums as Filur, an electro duo he started with his old friend Kasper Bjørke . He released his critically-acclaimed solo debut Salton Sea back in 2012 and its success paved the way for 2014’s Love me.
The song “Happy” appeared as a B-side on the Pulsing EP and is a co-write with US singer-turned-fashion-photographer Eddie Chacon (famous for his 90′s smash ‘Would I lie To You’). The track is a sophisticated mesh of multi-layered electronica that once again demonstrates Barfod’s spirit of adventurousness and virtuosity.
On the song, Chacon wrote: “In my 35 year music career [I have] seen so many of my great musician friends slip away due to aids, drugs, car accidents, suicide (…) but I decided I was gonna be happy. (…) I’ve attended many funerals in my life and I always think the same thing: Any day above ground is a good day.”
