TOURIST – PLACID ACID (Chillwave/SynthPop – UK)

Before starting his ambitious new solo project under the Tourist moniker, Brighton-based producer Will Phillips had already made a name for himself as Little Loud with his remixes of HEALTH, Yeasayer, Clock Opera, Goldfrapp or Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.

This time around Phillips goes for a mostly instrumental blend of synth driven chillwave, somewhat reminiscent of Washed Out or Memory Tapes. With crisp beats and almost psychedelic melodies, his 4-track debut EP Placid Acid bridges the gap between electronica and pop music and it does so in high style!
