WARGIRL – DANCING GOLD (Indie/Psychedelic Rock – US)

Wargirl is  is a six-headed collective of like-minded people from different backgrounds and cultures that’s as unconventional as their unique brand of psychedelic-funk-rock, wonderfully illustrated on their sublime 2020 album Dancing Gold, released via Hamburg-based label Clouds Hill.

At the centre of the project, co-founder Matt Wignall (mastermind producer / owner of the garage based Tackyland Studio) and standout front woman Samantha Parks (daughter of 70s funk singer James Lafayette “Bull” Parks of Bull & The Matadors) bring the exhilarating feel of analog garage rock into a new era. Tamara Raye and Enya Preston play bass and keys and the six piece is rounded out by dueling percussionists Erick Diego Nieto and Jeff Suri. Some of the bands early EP recordings featured Cold War Kids’ own Nathan Willet and Matt Maust on bass and organ.
