AMATRIA – CHINCHES (Pop/Indie – Spain)

Spanish artist Amatria (born Joni Antequera) quit his job as a technical architect years ago to pursue music full time, refining his technique as a producer and working with dedication to define his sound. He originally played in different outfits, while also developing his solo work as Amatria. However, it was the latter that led him to sign with PIAS in 2011 and release his debut album Hoy van a salirte las alas in 2012, followed by Salir Ileso in 2013.

Antequera started playing in the country’s main venues and in 2014 he released the song “Chinches” which turned out to be a huge hit and represented a key milestone in his career. With his well-crafted mix of over-the-top pop, solid bass lines and catchy choruses, Amatria has become a force to be reckoned with on the Spanish indie scene.
