ERASMO CARLOS – É PRECISO DAR UN JEITO (Alt/Rock – Brazil)

Erasmo Carlos was a Brazilian singer and songwriter, most closely associated with his friend and longtime collaborator Roberto Carlos. Together they composed “É Preciso Dar um Jeito, Meu Amigo”, released in 1971 as part of the album Carlos, Erasmo. The partnership between Roberto and Erasmo Carlos, which began during the Jovem Guarda movement, resulted in numerous compositions that left a mark on Brazilian music.

“É Preciso Dar um Jeito, Meu Amigo” stands out as an example of how they addressed social and political themes, such as the need for a response to the crimes committed during the Brazilian military dictatorship. The inspiration for the composition came from conversations about the country’s political situation at the time. During one of these discussions, the phrase “é preciso dar um jeito” (“we need to find a way”) emerged, which became the central theme of the song.

In 2024, the song gained renewed attention and was propelled to the top of streaming charts in Brazil after being featured in the soundtrack of Ainda Estou Aqui, directed by Walter Salles. The film’s success contributed to the rediscovery of É Preciso Dar um Jeito, Meu Amigo, highlighting the song’s relevance in Brazil’s historical and cultural context.
