R. MISSING – KNIFE SHOOK YOUR HAND (DarkWave/Electro – US)

Having debuted in 2017 with the mini-album Unsummering, prolific New York-based duo R. Missing recently released the album Knife Shook Your Hand, which is in fact a compilation of the best singles they released in 2024. Vocalist Sharon Shy and musician Toppy Frost expand on their previous palette of shadowy and moody synthpop by incorporating electronic trip-hop elements, echoing synths and robust dream beats.

Despite its singles’ compilation nature, the album feels surprisingly cohesive and each track sounds like a meticulous construction – gloomy and hypnotic. The beautiful synth melodies glisten over reverb-enhanced vocals.
