ROSI – WHITE LIGHT (UK – Alt/Electronica)
‘White Light’ is the debut single from London-based alternative electronica duo rosi, a brand new project of producer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Petrosino and singer songwriter Joni Mathews. Originally from New York, the pair are not new to the music industry and both artists have a proven track record that includes work on huge global hits from Adam Lambert to Liam Payne.
Released on September 15th, ‘White Light” was produced by Petrosino, with additional production by Mathews and programming by Sam Petts-Davies (Frank Ocean, Thom Yorke), and mastered by Mandy Parnell (Bjork, Aphex Twin). Drawing from influences of 2-step garage, indie rock and electronica, the song revolves around distorted synths, hypnotic beats and filtered vocals that merge to convey a sense of urgency and yearning.
About the the track, vocalist Mathews says: “When you go through something traumatic, your life kind of splits into two timelines, a pre and a post. I guess we were exploring that idea or wondering if a person can ever really get back to a pure state of being after everything unravels.”
