saturday nite with… KOCKY
Kocky (real name David Åström) is a new star in the sky of the swedish dancemusic scene. He started out as a hip hop producer in the late nineties, working with some big name american MCs (Big Daddy Cane, KRS-One)and producing tracks for Parisian gangsta group 113. But times change and after getting acquainted with Swedish movement La Vida Locash (think Lo-Fi-Fnk or Adrian Lux) David changed direction and adopted his new moniker: Kocky. Of course his new sound still retains elements of hip hop and R’n’B but it’s much more dancefloor oriented. Kocky puts everything he likes into the mix: dance music melts into hip-hop, electro blends with house and RnB meets pop
“Prison Break” appears on Kocky’s last album Stadium Status and features Noonie Bao on vocals. The track was given the remix treatment by the hand of Adrian Lux, one of our favourite Scandinavian DJs at the moment, and the result is a pumping tech-house track. Powerful bass and strong melodies (a staple in Adrian Lux’s remixes) unite to get the crowds dancing. Thank god it’s saturday!
