Midnight to Monaco

Sydney label Future Classic recently announced their latest signing, Midnight to Monaco, a duo consiting of Canadian singer Ricky Ducati & Australian producer Donnie Sloan. They premiered their debut single “Suicide” in August and it has since received almost 300K plays on SoundCloud and accolades from major music blogs.

BLUE HAWAII – UNTOGETHER (Electronica/IDM – Canada)

Blue Hawaii

Blue Hawaii is a recording, DJ and live project from Montreal, Quebec. Created by Alex Agor Cowan and Raphaelle Standell (one third of art rock band BRAIDS), this electronic music duo released their first EP, Blooming Summer, in 2010  and debut album, Untogether, in 2013 both via Arbutus Records. They toured Europe, Asia, and North America numerous times in 2013-14. As a result of the live shows, they became deeply interested in dance music – their performance being known for transitioning into a DJ style set with improvised material including live vocal loops and lines.

In late 2014, the duo released new single “Get Happy” and a mixtape featuring edits of old songs and new song “All of My Heart”. While Standell releases and tours with BRAIDS in 2015, Cowan continues Blue Hawaii by DJing worldwide and producing new material and remixes (including one for Tei Shi).

CARIBOU – JAMELIA (Alternative/Electronica – Canada)

Canadian visionary artist Dan Snaith, better known as Caribou, released his last album, Swim, in late 2010 and has been touring with his band ever since. At present, nothing new on the horizon for Caribou, but Snaith is currently in the studio working on a new album, tentatively slated for a 2013 release. In the meantime, let’s revisit one of his 2010 tracks: “Jamelia”.

Written by Snaith and mixed by David Wrench, “Jamelia” features Luke Lalonde on vocals, Rob Piilonen on the flute and Steve Ward ont he trombone.  And since one song is probably not enough to quench your musical thrist, let’s throw in a couple of remixes from Gold Panda and DJ Koze for good measure.
