CHEW LIPS – DO YOU CHEW (Alt/Electro – UK)

UK-based electropop act Chew Lips have a new single out now! “Do You Chew?” is a dancefloor-melting number, not unlike the duo’s glorious 2009 single “Salt Air”. The first official remix, courtesy of Lieke, slows things down a notch, turning the song into a chilled out, sun-soaked, Balearic affair that will suit any after-party playlist.

The second remix, produced by Nick Zinner, surfaced a couple days ago on the interwebs. Clocking in at 3:13, it adds about 60 seconds to the original for a more radio-friendly format. On all other fronts, it pretty much keeps the spirit of the song intact, with a little extra emphasis on percussion.

To top things off, you can grab both remixes and the original track for free on the band’s SoundCloud! Watch for Chew Lips’ second album later this year…

saturday nite with… JUPITER

You might remember Parisian electropop duo Jupiter from their high-energy singles “Saké” and “Vox Populi”. Over the past couple of years, Amélie and Quarles, Jupiter’s creative core, have established a solid reputation as France’s best purveyors of club-friendly electro.

Their latest endeavour is a synthalicious remix of “Clash” by Paris-based outfit Caravan Place. With a touch of nu-disco and addictive beats, Jupiter turn the song into a true dancefloor anthem!

Word on the street is that A&Q are currently working on their debut album, which should be pretty amazing if what they have released so far is any measure. While we wait for Jupiter’s album, let’s go over some of the remixes they have produced for the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Chew Lips, Anoraak, Metronomy and KiT. The list is long and the standard is high but here is a little selection…

CHEW LIPS – UNICORN (ElectroPop/Indie – UK)

After releasing two acclaimed singles on hip Parisian label Kitsuné, British electro-pop trio Chew Lips finally released their highly anticipated debut album in January. Unicorn is a consistent pop album packed with catchy tunes and impeccable synth melodies. On this album, Tigs (vocals), James Watkins (bass, synths) and Will Sanderson (guitar, synths) teamed up with Bat For Lashes collaborator, David Kosten, who helped them craft ten slices of pitch-perfect stylish pop.

Chew Lips - Play Together

Taking cues from the 80s (think KRAFTWERK), Chew Lips is part of the current wave of girl-fronted electro bands (La Roux, Robyn, Little Boots) but their strong songwriting displays more serious ambitions that you can sense on tracks such as “Too Much Talking” or “Piano Song”, revealing a much more sensitive side of the group.

If you’ve been following this blog, you will remember Chew Lips’ first single “Solo”, which was included on U R MY DISCO // vol.3 and their subsequent hit “Salt Air”, which was given the remix treatment by French electro geniuses Jupiter

CHEW LIPS – SALT AIR (ElectroPop/Indie – UK)

Chew Lips were already featured on U R MY DISCO // vol.3 a few months ago. This London based three piece was then making their debut on trendy label Kitsuné with the Solo EP. Quite naturally Tepr’s highly danceable remix of the title track was included in URMD // vol.3.

Now Chew Lips are back with a new single: “Salt Air”. The version you’ll find just below is a remix by French electro geniuses Jupiter. Enjoy!
