Phillipa ‘Pip’ Brown, better known as the one-woman synthpop act Ladyhawke, has just released her third studio album Wild Things, her first new material since 2012’s Anxiety. Unlike previous hits “Sunday Drive” and “Blue Eyes” which were influenced by classic rock and quite guitary, the new songs ditch the brooding for a “more synthy and poppy” sound. “I instantly knew when something inspired me. That’s when we’d run with it,” she said of working with with producer Tommy English.
Wild Things is a slick, well-produced album which delves further into synth-pop territory than any of her previous work. With massive hooks and infectious choruses galore, this exhilarating journey of unabashed exuberance is a powerful, vibrant expression of life.

Punks Jump Up kick off 2012 with their new single “Get Down (Special CCCrash Mixxx)”, which they define as their “modern take and homage to Prince, Trax Records & Yello, in equal measures”. The track is an energetic, stripped down and catchy drum-machine ode to all things dance, accompanied by a catchy vocal hook and even catchier proto acid bass line.
But that’s not all, there’s also a bundle of fantastic remixes too! On remix duties you’ll find London based French/Italian duo JBAG, legendary dance producer Alex Gopher, Italian duo Fare Soldi and Cologne-based dance maestro Zero Cash!
In other Punks Jump Up news, the duo, who have built quite a reputation for their stellar remixes (Miami Horror, Lykke Li, Miike Snow, Housse de Racket), have just shared a brand new reworking of Ladyhawke‘s excellent single “Black White & Blue”. Check it out below…
