LA-based genre-bending artist Son Lux (Ryan Lott) has been churning out unique, wildly creative compositions since the late noughties. Taken off his forthcoming album Brighter Wounds, “Dream State” is a lush production in the vein of some of Lott’s best works.

Los Angeles based French-American duo Freedom Fry are sharing more dancey tunes from their recently released EP, Strange Attraction. This new release veers away from the alt-folk of their previous works to venture into indie-pop, full of glowing synth lines, funky guitars and catchy vocals.
On “Party Down”, the mood is festive and you will have a hard time not tapping your feet (or even singing along). Marie Seyrat and Bruce Driscoll’s perfectly complementary vocal interplay adds to the overall very polished production. This track is definitely a well-crafted pop song that’s hard to get enough of, and luckily there’s more where this came from with Strange Attraction‘s title track.

Multi-instrumentalist Ernest Greene, aka Washed Out, has been making music out of his home studio in Georgia for close to 10 years. His album Mister Mellow was released a few months ago on Stones Throw Records, accompanied by a visual album on DVD.
Conceived over the course of 2 years, Mister Mellow is intensely personal (Greene’s only collaborator was mix engineer Cole MGN) – but the ideas and observations found within the album speak to a much larger shared experience that is affecting an entire generation. The album was influenced by old classics as well as the experimental collage techniques of musique concrète. Styles as diverse as free jazz, house, hip-hop and psych are combined together to create a busy, chaotic mix.

Based in San Diego, 18-year-old singer songwriter Briana Solorzano, who goes by the artist name RIA, has just shared her first official single “Broke Baby”. The song is a laid-back pop number with a bouncy guitar loop and very minimal beats that slowly build up around Ria’s vocals.
The young artist explains that the song is about the “deeper meaning of solitude” for “a naive young girl going through the first lessons of life as a young adult”. It’s a song about the reality of growing up, broken dreams, friends moving on and time going on and on.

Having spent years embedded in collaborative projects, Brooklyn-based artist Xan Young is now flying solo, with a project that represents his unadulterated voice, the product of years of maturation in experimental pop and club music.
Sonically, his new track “Honest” thumps with a driving bassline topped by crystalline soulful vocals and waves of blazing synthesizers. Young showcases his talent as both a songwriter and producer on this new release.
