London-based indie trio We Have Band have a new single out! “Where Are your People” is taken off their sophomore album, Ternion, released last January via Naive. The single comes with remixes from Aashton & Swift, Eats Everything, Walls and Kinema and a slightly disturbing video directed by Alex Turvey.
If you missed out on Flairs‘ gorgeous electro-disco number “Better Than Prince”, originally released in 2008 and re-released as a 12″ in 2009, here is a catch-up session! Mixed and co-produced by Etienne De Crécy and Alex Gopher, “Better Than Prince” is a hypnotic piece of laid-back electro carried by Flairs’ off-beat drowsy vocals, nicely complemented by raw synths, a jumpy bassline and other unmistakable elements of dirty disco.
The stunning animated psychedelic video is made by award winners Jonas & Francois (Justice, Kanye West, The Presets) and the single comes with some really cool remixes by Benjamin, 25 Hours a Day and Alavi and B-side “Truckers Delight”.
On the heels of their Neil Young cover “Into The Black”, revealed a few weeks ago, Portland four-piece Chromatics have unveiled the video for their new track “Lady”, a smooth 80s inspired nu disco number. Directed by Alberto Rossini, the video features grainy footage and washed out images filmed live at Silver City Prom 2010, providing a glimpse into the band’s life on the road.
Adam Miller, Ruth Radelet and Johnny Jewel (the man behind Glass Candy and Desire) have promised their fans a new LP for 2012. “Lady” is the third single taken off this highly anticipated album, which is currently being mastered. To be continued…
Sydney DJ/producer Beni has a brand new video for his high-energy dancefloor anthem “Someone Just Like You” and it’s premiering on umstrum in Europe (and Prefix in the US)! Shot in California around Joshua Tree and Death Valley and directed by Partizan’s Jared Eberhardt, the video features amazing views of the desert, kaleidoscope shots and trippy projections on naked bodies. Pretty psychedelic…
For the record, “Someone Just Like You” features Mattie Safer (formerly of The Rapture) on vocals and it is taken off Beni’s debut LP, House of Beni, a sparkling collection of pulsating dance music, ranging from Chicago House to electropop, disco and pretty much everything in between. The album is out now via Modular!
Jonathan Boulet is a young musician from Sydney’s northwest suburbs, who released his self-titled debut album in 2009 via trendy Aussie label Modular. He recently resurfaced from the wilderness after a long pause to work on his second album, scheduled for release this year.
While we wait for this new record, let’s rediscover the video for his 2010 single “North To South East To You” directed by NZ combo Special Problems (also behind stunning videos for The Naked & Famous, Midnight Juggernauts or Zowie).
