Glass Candy is an American nu-disco duo from Portland that formed in 1996. Johnny Jewel plays guitar, synths and produces most of the music on old-school analogic gear, while charismatic front woman Ida No sings vocals.
Glass Candy’s work is quite difficult to define, their music can be dark and disturbing at times and other times upbeat and almost carefree. The only thing that’s for sure is that the songs’ repetitive lyrics and polished beats have a strong hypnotic effect, that makes you want to play them on repeat and drown in the sound.
Glass Candy - Animal Imagination
While the band’s early work blended noise rock with electropop, their later work incorporates Italo disco. They have released a number of albums since the early 2000s, their most recent being 2008’s Deep Gems.

Tracey Thorn is an English singer and songwriter best known for being one half of the duo Everything But The Girl, which she formed in 1981 with musical partner and husband Ben Watt. Out of the Woods is Thorn’s first strictly solo album since 1982′s indie classic A Distant Shore and first new original release since Everything But The Girl’s 1999 album Temperamental.
The whole idea of making a new album hatched about two years ago after a collaboration with German duo Tiefschwarz on the dancefloor hit “Damage”. Thorn originally thought the album would be mostly covers but she somehow “found [herself] writing more songs and collaborating with people” and she “made a pop record without really meaning to”.
With producer Ewan Pearson she has developed an electrofolk sound Ranging from subdued electronica to downright glittering disco, the songs on Out Of The Woods really enhance Thorn’s lyrics and magical voice.

LCD Soundsystem is the musical side project of producer James Murphy, co-founder of New York City dance-punk label DFA Records. Formed in 2001, the music of LCD Soundsystem can be described as a mix of alternative dance and post punk, along with elements of disco and other styles.
LCD Soundsystem gained attention with its first single, “Losing My Edge”. The song, which sounds like the boastings of a music geek put to an electronic beat, received great reviews in 2002. Murphy released a double album simply titled LCD Soundsystem in February of 2005 to critical acclaim.
